The god of cobblers : Adi Dassler (founder, Adidas)

Dassler is the name of the person. A man from a small town of Germany who was destined to live an ordinary life. He learnt a humble skill to earn bread. The skill that never really paid well and nor it does today. Dassler trained himself in mending footwear and decided to be a cobbler.

He did his job with such finesse and creativity that he amazed the world and created a dream life for himself. While mending shoes, he ascertained to make them from recycled rubber and other scratch. Shoes made by him weren’t those that people were used to wearing. Using things like trimmer, adhesives, tyre tubes et cetera he created some unique designs that not only looked good but were also light weight and comfortable.

Not procrastinating a bit, he roped in his brother to form a company. The company struggled to go great guns for 12 years. Though they managed to garner customary appreciation in their domain owing to the awesomeness of their product, they didn’t reach even a tad close to what they aspired.

The next step they contemplated was to make their shoes certifiably perfect for sports use. They knocked doors of various coaches, physicians, sportsperson and doctors. As luck hovers over the one who stays put, he managed to serve Jesse Owens in 1936 Olympics. Jesse Owens won 4 gold medals wearing those shoes. Thus, their brand got international recognition and they came out to be one of the most sought after sports brand of the age.
