Creation of world’s largest furniture company with an IQ of 85

Wealth & IQ

To be successful, you have to be intelligent. Because most successful people are intelligent.

And with this statement crashes the dreams of almost every person who couldn't reach the IITs, IIMs and other top tier institutes. But the man we're talking about - Ingvar Kamprad, is said to have an IQ of less than 100. That implies that he's less than average when it comes to intelligence.

But. He's amongst the richest people in the world, and to top all that, he's one self made man. How did he do that?

He began his journey with two empty hands and a below average head on his shoulders. Apparently, he had a lot of heart.
Ingvar Kamprad was an entrepreneur at heart. He used to buy a lot of matchsticks from Stockholm, and sell it at a profit to his neighbours as a kid. These activities grew in scale and he started IKEA, when he was 17 years old, despite being dyslexic.
IKEA is now the biggest furniture company in the world. How did that happen?

Ingvar had a vision of in-house flat-pack furniture manufacturing. In this type of manufacturing, the furniture is imported in flat pieces and is assembled in the place it is to be installed. This way, IKEA saved transportation costs and manufacturing costs while enhancing the freedom of scale expansion. This happened because while delivering furniture in Milk trucks, Kamprad asked for lower prices from local manufacturers who had to ask him to fuck-off. Kamprad followed their advice and started this model. Also, Kamprad also did the impossible - starting factories/plants in Ireland during the great riots. This is pretty similar to opening a factory in the gulf right now, with constant fear of ISIS cutting down your neck.

Anyway, IKEA is huge now; and so is Ingvar. But what do we learn from this?

You can be HUGE even if you start with empty hands and a below average head on your shoulders. But you must have a really solid heart. This is to us, and you!
