When Cinema Inspires: Ben Silbermann (Founder, Pinterest)

Ben Silbermann

No one says being successful is easy, but they say it surely is worth it!

Similar is the story of PINTEREST [a photo-sharing online startup].

Ben was unsatisfied with his job as he was not allowed to build anything. His girlfriend said to him: “stop complaining and just go do it”. Ben left his job at Google. As soon as he did, the economy collapsed and his friends were laughing at him. Raising money became really hard but he didn’t give up. He teamed up with Paul Sciarra, a college mate. Both went through a hard time.

After some failures, Pinterest came into existence. Growing at full speed from 5,000 users in August 2010 to over 20 million now, it had seen a time when its founders could not afford an office. Although now they have a real office, Pinterest sailed through the recession, survived early failure and achieved success in just 4 years.

Ben Silbermann is the CEO and visionary co-founder behind Pinterest. He had never even imagined what life had planned for him; he was all set to become a doctor as his parents as well as his sisters are doctors. As a kid, he used to look up to entrepreneurs like George Eastman, Walt Disney, and Steve Jobs but he never identified with them. In his junior year, he got into business after being inspired by "Pirates of Silicon Valley"- a movie about Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, and moved to the west.

While struggling, two things got Ben through that hard time
1) He felt like he couldn't go back to Google
2) He didn't want to let his mate Paul down.

Pinterest was together founded by these two brave warriors. It fought the early challenges thrown it's in way and today it has become one of the most successful startups!

FUTURE BELONGS TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN THE BEAUTY OF THEIR DREAMS.
